• Account information: email address and encrypted password. • Smoking profile: cigarettes per day, years smoked, pack price, quit date, motivations, and triggers. • Health data: craving logs (timestamps, outcomes, trigger tags, notes), daily check-ins, and health milestone progress. • Identity journey: reflections, declarations, evidence entries, if-then plans, and letters you write within the app. • App usage: feature interactions and settings preferences.
We do NOT collect your location, contacts, photos (except future-self photos you explicitly upload), or any data from other apps on your device.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
• Track your quit-smoking progress and display personalized statistics. • Send you relevant notifications (milestone alerts, identity reminders, check-in prompts). • Improve the app experience based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns.
We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or third-party marketers.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in the European Union on Neon, a managed Postgres provider, which encrypts data at rest and in transit. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text. We follow security best practices to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Third-Party Services
Getting Over Smoking uses the following third-party services:
• Neon: database hosting in the European Union. Subject to Neon's privacy policy. • Vercel: application hosting and delivery. Subject to Vercel's privacy policy. • Lemon Squeezy: payment processing and subscription management, acting as merchant of record. Payment card details are handled by Lemon Squeezy and never reach our servers. Subject to Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy. • Google: only if you choose to sign in with your Google account. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
These services process data only as necessary to operate the app. We do not integrate advertising SDKs or analytics trackers that identify individual users.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
• Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. • Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data. • Deletion: request that we delete your account and all associated data. When you delete your account in the app it is scheduled for deletion and permanently erased 30 days later; signing in during those 30 days cancels it. • Export: request a portable copy of your data.

Children's Privacy
Getting Over Smoking is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
